Brad White was born in western Kentucky, where, with the help of
rural isolation and 70’s hot-rod culture, his artistic language
had begun to develop by early adolescence. Supplies from his father’s
auto-body shop and endless auto/mechanical discard allowed for great
artistic growth. Following formal training at Murray State University,
he has supported himself by making bronze sculpture at the Bright
Foundry in Louisville, KY.

Artist Statement
Organic abstraction executed in quasi-industrial materials sums up the
intriguing dichotomy at work in my sculpture. Creating under the motto “Notice
the things you notice” I construct forms that reflect nature’s
details resonant with the idea of growth in successive stages. While
many of the objects allude to natural phenomena such as limbs, stems
and seed forms, body parts or marine life, there is never an attempt
to make links to particular plants or species. These bio-morphs are
simply a translation of my influences, in an attempt to understand the
handiwork of the divine, and re-represent it in a simple material form.
